BOVEY Tracey AFC wasted no time in storming into the lead against Honiton Town on Saturday, August 16.
The Moorlanders were on the board after less than 60 seconds and went on to add another five in their romping success.
Ollie Aplin scored very early on, on the first day of the season, but this time he was assisting from the off.
Aplin set up Cal Leech before getting on the scoresheet himself in the seventh minute, but not before his brother Dom could make a crucial stop from a 1-on-1 down the other end.
A pair of new arrivals at Mill Marsh parked link up for the third goal. Cieran Bridger, who recently returned to the club from Buckland Athletic, curled in a perfect free-kick and it was met by former Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police man Jordan Thomas to open his account for Bovey.
Levi Landricombe could then have had a hat-trick in the second half, his first effort on goal being tipped onto the post brilliantly by Honiton’s shot-stopper.
Landricombe was the scorer of goals four and five though, before substitute Jack Brimming forced an own goal to round off an afternoon to remember.
It seems that a number of players could have got the nod but it was Landricombe who was named as player of the match.
At the time of writing, Bovey are in sixth with two wins and a draw to their name, plus a healthy goal difference after this one-sided affair.
Tomorrow they will make the short trip over to local rivals Newton Abbot Spurs for a must-watch mid-week matchup.
Ben Gerring’s side then visit Poltair Park in the FA Vase, the home of St Austell AFC, before closing out the month of August with a league game against Torrington AFC, back on home soil.
