TEIGNBRIDGE Trotters staged another successful Ladies 10K from Ipplepen Cricket Club, with a great turnout by runners of all ages.
The scenic event sponsored by MI Plant and Sibelco, took place in great weather through Ogwell and Denbury.
Race Director Debbie Elphick managed a superb team effort again across many helpers and race marshals.
Lauren Knox, of Storm Plymouth, won in a time of 39:05. On her tail were Chloe Olford (Teignbridge Trotters) 41:13, Charlene Matthews (Storm Plymouth) 41:32, Chloe Weeks (Teignbridge Trotters) 42:50 and Freya Tomlinson (Dawlish Coasters) 45:20.
179 ladies completed the course and the following were the respective leaders. First junior Sophie Ballard 55:51, first female vet (FV) 35 Charlene Matthews (Storm Plymouth) 41:35, first FV40 Felicity Came (Yeovil Town) 46:42, first FV45 Ann Grace (Yeovil Town) 48:04, first FV50 Tracy Elphick 47:50, first FV55 Andrea Mitchell (Erme Valley Harriers) 51:59, first FV60 Anthea Board (Haldon Trail Runners) 48:46, first FV65 Jenny Reay (Exmouth Harriers) 46:42, first FV70 Lucy Payne 59:53.
The Trotters’ A-team claimed the team prize ahead of Storm Plymouth A and Teignbridge Trotters B. The long-established race is a popular feature in the local running calendar and stands out for its focus on ladies’ running.
Next weekend is the Sibelco Templer Ten by Teignbridge Trotters from Stover School, including the kids’ one-mile race. Places are still available on Sientries, with more details available on the club website.
The trail running race includes paths, woods and fields, passing through Stover Country Park and Teigngrace. Runners start and end in full view of spectators in the school grounds, leading to an exciting finish. A fine selection of refreshments and homemade cakes are available with an array of prizes to be won for kids, junior, senior, and vet runners.
