ROUND five of the Snowbee Top Rod Competition took place at Kennick on Sunday 9 June.

Kennick was looking a picture with the Rhododendrons coming out in their full pink colour, and the weather was 15 degrees with a moderate NW wind and sunny spells.

Of the 10 anglers that made the trip, five caught their 5-fish limit and 38 total fish were caught for a bag weight 77.5lbs. The average catch was 3.8, the average weight 2.04lbs and then Darren Penfold was responsible for the biggest fish, at 2lbs 15oz.

Alex Venn (Willand) led the way, catching five fish and totalling 12lbs 5.5oz. Darren Penfold (Liverton) and Chris Bolt (Kingsteignton) came in second and third respectively, several ounces being the only difference.

Peter Brown (Brixham) and Alec Hoare (Abbotskerswell) were tied for fourth on 10lbs and 10oz and then John Hern (Exeter) was in sixth.

The next event is the Clatworthy Boats on July 7.
