GEORGE Watch is the man of the moment for the Mid-Devon Cycling Club.

A fantastic weekend was had by a number of road racers, Watch taking a well-deserved victory at RNAS Merryfield in the 3,4 road race after a successful breakaway.

In the E123 race, Nick Makin placed a strong 3rd, with Ian Cullen (18th) and Shaun Davey (20th) also putting in great performances. The club wish a speedy recovery to James Williams after his crash.

George Watch continued his winning streak at the Gillingham Wheelers road race, securing another victory after another strategic breakaway.

Meryn Kitching had a powerful race at Castle Coombe in round 5 meanwhile, finishing in fourth.

Elsewhere, the Mid Devon youth team had a successful week at the National MTB XC Championships in Cornwall at Woody’s Bike Park.

Henry Cadwallader showcased his skills with a 4th place finish, and Eva Fox took a well-deserved 5th place in between GCSE exams, both on the short track.

In the juvenile section, Matthew Holmes achieved his best result of the series so far (12th), closely followed by teammate James Allen (15th). Lauren Fox bounced back from a crash in the previous round with a strong 6th-place finish. Youth Lara Dix juggled her busy schedule to place 7th, and Henry Cadwallader continued his success with another best result, 11th.

Overall, it was a fantastic week for Mid Devon Cycling Club!
