A BUCKFASTLEIGH man has been banned for 23 months for failing to give a blood sample for a test.

Atisha Richard Tenzin Mullin, aged 36, of Duckspond Close, pleaded guilty to the charge that he failed to give the specimen of blood when he was being investigated to see whether he had committed an offence.

Banning him for 23 months, South and West Devon Magistrates' Court said the ban could be reduced by 23 weeks on completion of a course.

A community order was made that he must comply with a drug rehabilitation requirement and carry out up to 12 activity days.

He was fined £50 and ordered to pay £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and £114 to fund victim services.

No separate penalty was imposed after Mullin also pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and a licence that covered him to drive a vehicle of the class he was in at Fairy Lane, Buckfastleigh.
