Police have confirmed that they are not treating the deaths of a man and woman in Holcombe as suspicious.

The bodies of 32-year-old Aleasha Sullivan and a 30-year-old, as yet unnamed man, were found at a flat in the village on October 21.

Initially officers, who visited the property at St George’s Lane on the Lyme View estate following a report of concern for their welfare, treated the deaths as unexplained.

But following an investigation, a spokesman said the deaths were now considered ’non-suspicious’.

Meanwhile the force has referred its conduct over the case to the authority watchdog.

Formal identification and forensic post-mortem examinations have been carried out.

A file is being prepared for the coroner.

Floral tributes and loving messages have been left outside the home and the family of Aleasha Sullivan have set up a Gofundme page in tribute to her.

’Aleasha’s Final Goodbye’ gofundme page has topped £2,500, with one single donation being for an amazing £1,000.

One resident told the Mid-Devon Advertiser: ’We are all surprised that something like this could happen in Holcombe.’

Another added: ’We saw all the police activity but no-one was actually able to tell us what was going on at the time.’

The GoFundMe page said: ’Aleasha was loved by many, she was a funny, caring, beautiful selfless soul.

’She touched the lives of everyone she knew and made an impact that will never be forgotten.’.

A police spokesperson told the Mid-Devon Advertiser: ’I can confirm that Devon and Cornwall Police has made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct in relation to the incident.’
