AN AIRGUN attack at a property on Newton Abbot’s Buckland estate has sparked an armed police search for offenders in Torquay.
Officers have since visited the estate reassuring the public about the incident which started at an address in Chichester Way in the early hours of yesterday.
No one was hurt in the shooting drama, although three pellets damaged windows at the targeted property.
A police spokesman confirmed this morning that the hunt for the suspects - which has switched to the Watcombe area of the resort - has so far drawn a blank.
The Buckland incident kicked off at 12.40am with part of the double glazing damaged by pellets fired from an airgun or gas-powered weapon.
Police were soon on the trail of the culprits after making local inquiries. But the fugitives remain at large despite a swoop on the Watcombe estate.
A police spokesman said today: ‘Armed officers attended a property in Torquay where it is believed two men seen outside the Newton Abbot property had gone.
‘No arrests have been made at present. A safeguarding review of the residents of the Newton Abbot property has been carried out.’
Anyone with information about the incident should contact police on 101 or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
