A MOVING diesel fuel fire heading for drains was caught by firefighters after a van burst into flames in Kingsteignton.

Two crews from Newton Abbot dealt with the drama in Exeter Road last Friday.

A fire spokesman said: ‘A running diesel fire from the ruptured fuel line was moving towards a drain so our Environmental Protection Unit was utilised to stem the flow.’

Two firefighters in breathing gear wielded hosereel jets and a dry powder extinguisher to knock out the flames.

The alarm was raised just after 10am.
