A BUS caught fire on the A380 near Ashcombe yesterday evening (Thursday).
A fire control spokesperson said: ‘We received four calls reporting a bus fire on the A380 near Ashcombe.
‘The fire engines were mobilised to attend as the fire involved a bus on the live carriageway.
‘Three passengers and the driver were free and clear of the 30-seater bus.
‘The bus was 30 per cent damaged by fire and crews used two breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.
‘Devon Highways were informed of an oil spillage at the scene. Police were also in attendance.
‘The cause of the fire was accidental.’
