A CAR was severely damaged by fire in a three vehicle crash on the A380 North from Wapperwell to Ashcombe Cross this morning (Thursday).

Two fire appliances from Newton Abbot and one from Teignmouth attended the car fire at 5.30am.

A spokesperson for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service said: ‘All persons were free and clear of the vehicles.

‘On arrival, crews confirmed one car well alight and closed the carriageway.

‘Two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet was used to put the fire out. Police also attended.

‘The car sustained severe damage.’
