A Newton Abbot organisation is offering a free support and coaching course to inspire and support freelancers and changemakers through the cold, dark winter months.

The online ‘Wintering Well’ programme provides coaching, co-working, creativity and a supportive community so participants can navigate the shorter days with a steady foundation.

The programme, provided by the Academy of Wide-Hearted Living community interest company (CIC), is aimed at providing those who give to others a network where they can access support in a nurturing environment during a tricky period in the year.

‘People who look after others, don’t necessarily have support systems for themselves,’ explained Academy of Wide-Hearted Living founder Melissa Noble.

By taking part in the programme, participants can reduce feelings of isolation, build routines to help with wellbeing and productivity, get practical help and access a community of calm, connection and creativity.

Wintering Well will run for 12 weeks from Tuesday January 13 until the end of March.

Sessions on a Tuesday will include a weekly check-in and group coaching, there will be co-working opportunities on Wednesdays and Thursdays with a Friday end of week celebration and weekly check-out where participants can reflect and encourage eachother.

Places for freelancers, sole traders, small voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) groups and changemakers are available at no cost thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.

‘I am absolutely delighted that The National Lottery Community Fund has recognised the importance of caring for the wellbeing of freelancers, especially during winter,’ said Melissa. ‘It will help people feel connected, build resilience and start the new year with renewed energy and confidence,’ she added.
