A CAR was severely damaged in a fire in Buckfast Road, Buckfast, this morning (Monday).

A fire appliance from Buckfastleigh attended at 8.54am and confirmed the vehicle well alight on arrival.

A spokesperson said: ‘Crews got to work wearing breathing apparatus using one hose reel jet and electronic spreading equipment to put the fire out.

‘The cause was established as accidental ignition, and the vehicle was severely damaged.

‘Crews also used safety cones and environmental pads to mop up contaminants.’
