FIREFIGHTERS at a Teignbridge fire station recently engaged in height rescue drills, simulating scenarios requiring casualty rescues.

The crew from Buckfastleigh Fire Station completed some safe and practiced rescues from height.

They simulated a number of scenarios which required a casualty to be located, triaged and secured to prevent further danger.

All Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue firefighters are trained in safe working at height level one, which includes work restraint when working at height (preventing falls) and fall arrest (preventing serious injury if a firefighter were to fall) and also deals with working safely in confined spaces.
