TWO people fled their vehicle after it burst into flames north of Chagford yesterday afternoon.

No one was hurt in the fire which happened on the A3124 at Whiddon Down just before 3pm.

Firefighters from Chagford arrived at the scene to find the vehicle well alight.

Two sets of breathing gear were worn as a hosereel jet and compressed air foam extinguisher were used to douse the flames.

The vehicle was completely destroyed. A section of banking was also affected by the blaze which fire chiefs confirmed was accidental.
