FIREFIGHTERS from Newton Abbot were sent out to reports of a kitchen fire at the town’s Gladstone Place.

The occupier of the property alerted the crews at around 8pm on Saturday evening.

On arrival, firefighters confirmed there had been a small fire involving a cooker, which had been isolated by the occupier before they arrived.

The crews checked the area to ensure the fire was out.

There was a small amount of damage to the cooker and the cause was deemed accidental.
