A POLICEWOMAN was injured after officers were called to deal with a street disturbance in Newton Abbot over the weekend.

They responded to the incident in East Street at 7pm on Saturday after a man and woman were involved in a domestic bust-up.

The woman, aged 25 and from Torquay, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assaulting the policewoman, who was not thought to be badly hurt.

A police spokesman said the woman was later released and bailed until February 1 pending further inquiries.
