DEVON author Nick Pannell was at the Choice Words bookshop in Newton Abbot at the end of December signing copies of his new book “The REAL Abbot’s Way”.
Former journalist Nick spent years researching the famous route between Buckfast and Tavistock and concluded the path on the Ordnance Survey map wasn’t accurate. Since then Historic England have backed up his claims saying the route is recreational, of a recent date and has no historic origins.
Nick said: “The more northern route starting on Holne Moor has much to recommend it as it follows a line of medieval stone crosses, some of which can still be navigated by.”
“It also makes a great pilgrimage route and it was great to talk about its spiritual significance to those who dropped by for copies.”
