An 88-year-old pensioner from Dartmoor has denied abusing a boy in Devon almost 60 years ago.
John Earle, formerly of Widecombe-in-the-Moor, pleaded not guilty to nine charges of indecent assault when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court.
All the offences were allegedly committed against the same boy when he was aged nine to 13 between 1957 and 1961 and when Earle would have been in his late 20s and early 30s.
Judge Geoffrey Mercer, QC, adjourned the case for a trial on August 21 this year and set a timetable for the progress of the case.
Earle, who walked with two sticks, was granted bail.
