FIRE is reported to have broken out in a field on the outskirts of Dawlish this afternoon.

Exeter Road had been closed for a time while fire crews tackle the blaze which is understood to be a field next to Dawlish Countryside Park.

It is said the road has now been reopened.

One eye witness reported there seemed to be several starting points for the fire and that there is a wind behind it.

The blaze follows days of high temperatures, no rain and current windy conditions.
