A SHED was destroyed in a fire in Newton Abbot on Saturday.

The fire spread to a car and a house in Broadlands Avenue on September 17. And a woman was treated for smoke inhalation.

Two fire appliances from Newton Abbot were sent to the fire at 11.55am. On arrival crews requested an additional appliance which was mobilised from Torquay.

A spokesman for the fire service said: ‘The shed was 100 per cent severely damaged by fire and also the car was severely damaged by fire.

‘The semi-detached property was 10 per cent damaged by fire and 100 per cent damaged by smoke.

‘One female was suffering from smoke inhalation and was treated on the scene by the ambulance service.’

Four crew wearing breathing apparatus attended the fire. Two hose reel jets and two safety jets were used to extinguish it.

The spokesman added: ‘A thermal image camera was used to check for hot spots and a positive pressure ventilation fan to ventilate the property.

‘The cause of the fire was accidental.’
