A FIRE broke out in a garage at North Bovey this afternoon (Friday).

Fire control received a call at around 2.30pm that a garage was on fire in North Bovey.

Two fire appliances were sent, one from Moretonhampstead and one from Chagford.

A Fire Control spokesperson said: ‘Due to the details passed to fire control on the original call, fire control made the decision to mobilse a third appliance which was mobilised from Bovey Tracey.

‘Once on scene a 4x4 appliance and water bowser was required.

‘The 4x4 came from Princetown and the water bowser came from Torquay.

‘Fortunately, crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control and the water bowser was returned to station.

‘Crews extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet, a 45mm jet and small tools.’
