A BIN fire spread to a garage at a Newton Abbot property over the weekend.

Firefighters from the town were called to Salisbury Road just before 2.30am yesterday.

A hosereel jet was used to extinguish the flames.

A fire spokesman said the cause of the blaze was being treated as accidental.

He confirmed that the bin fire spread to a garage next to it which suffered damage to a door and minor damage inside.
