THE centre of Newton Abbot lit up to the glow of hand-made lanterns last night (Wednesday , December 10) as the town’s ever-popular Christmas lantern parade took to the streets.

Hundreds of youngsters took to the streets of of the town to celebrate the festive season with a myriad of brightly lit creations.

The streets were packed with families and shoppers watching the dazzling parade featuring pupils from local primary schools with their skilfully made and colourful lanterns.

This year the theme was Fairy Tales and the illuminated spectacle featured everything from bright pink frogs and toadstools to a giant gingerbread man.
