Firefighters rushed to tackle a car fire in Kingskerswell late on Christmas Day.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received multiple calls just after 10pm last night to a vehicle on fire in Water Lane.

Crews were immediately dispatched from Torquay and the police were notified due to the information provided at time of call.

A fire spokesman said: "On arriving at the scene it was confirmed that one car well alight and crews got to work fighting the blaze using breathing apparatus and hose reel to extinguish the fire".

"The fire was believed to have been started deliberately and the scene was left in the hands of the police."
