POLICE were called to Newton Abbot Racecourse after two girls were involved in a fight. A 14-year-old girl was allegedly punched several times in the face after being knocked to the ground during a fair at the Kingsteignton venue. Police were called to the scene on Friday evening.

The teenage victim, who has not been named, suffered a black eye in the bust-up. A police spokesman said the other female involved would be spoken to.

In a separate incident of violence just a few hours later, a 23-year-old man suffered a head injury during a suspected assault in Kingsteignton’s Fore Street. The casualty was taken by ambulance to Torbay Hospital after the alarm was raised at 2.30am on Saturday.
