A woman was advised to seek a hospital check-up after a fire in a Kingsteignton kitchen yesterday evening (Wednesday).

A Fire Control spokesperson said: ‘Following a call reporting a fire in the kitchen of a neighbouring property, firefighters were immediately mobilised from three stations.’

The call was made shortly before 6pm and firefighters from Newton Abbot, Teignmouth and Torquay attended.

‘Upon arrival crews confirmed that there had been a fire in the kitchen which was out on arrival.

‘One woman suffered the effects of smoke inhalation and advice was given for her to present to hospital as a precaution.

‘The cause of the fire was recorded as accidental.’
