A FIRE crew from Teignmouth responded to reports of a possible kitchen fire in the town this evening (Friday March 30th).

One pump from the station was despatched to the property in Portland Avenue just before 6pm. On arriving at the scene crews confirmed there had been a small fire in a ground floor kitchen but it was out on arrival.

A Fire Service spokesman said: “The fire crew at the scene made sure that the property was safe and also rendered first aid to one elderly male who was suffering from smoke inhalation.”

The casualty was left in the hands of ambulance personnel.
