A CAR burst into flames after a collision with a lorry on the A380 between Ware Barton and Penn Inn this morning.

No one was injured in the accident which happened on the Newton Abbot-bound carriageway just before 6am.

The matter caused rush-hour congestion for the following two hours as the crashed vehicles remained on the highway for lack of a hard shoulder.

Police and firefighters dealt with the incident.

Two sets of breathing gear were worn as a Newton Abbot crew used a hosereel jet to extinguish the blazing car.

Occupants of both vehicles were out and safely away from the wreckage scene before the emergency services arrived.The road was clear by 8.20am.
