A YOUNG man from Newton Abbot was taken to hospital after suffering a suspected fractured jaw in an assault outside the town’s nightclub.

Police were called to the Enigma club in Kingsteignton Road in the early hours of Sunday morning after hearing of ‘multiple fights’ outside the venue.

The single casualty, aged 21 and from the town, was allegedly punched in the face several times by another man.

He was taken by ambulance to Torbay Hospital for treatment at 2.30am.

Police said the disturbances were reported between 2am and 2.25am.

A police spokeswoman said a 19-year-old man from the Exeter area was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

He was bailed until September 21 for further questioning.
