A MAN was killed after being struck by a train near Teignmouth’s railway station in the early hours today (July 11).

A 65-year-old man was declared dead at the scene after the alarm had been raised just after 12.30am.

Rail services between Newton Abbot and Exeter were delayed for four hours while the scene of the tragedy was examined and cleared.

The name of the dead man has not yet been released.

British Transport Police, who will probe the death, have informed the coroner.

An inquest will open next week.

There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
