A MAN was taken to hospital after a two cars collided on the outskirts of Teignmouth, one of them ending up on its roof.

The casualty was cut from the wreckage of his vehicle by firefighters after being trapped inside.

The accident happened at Colley Lane Cross just after 6.30pm last night.

Fire crews from Teignmouth and Dawlish attended the incident together with the Middlemoor-based Heavy Rescuer Vehicle team.

Electronic cutting gear was used to extricate the injured man. Lighting and small tools were also needed to complete the rescue.

Police and paramedics also attended the scene.

A police spokesman said the casualty’s condition was not thought be be life-changing.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance.
