GUN violence erupted on the streets of Kingskerswell over the Easter weekend.
Good Friday turned bad when ugly scenes unfolded between an armed gang and a motorist.
A gun was reportedly fired into the bonnet of the man’s car during a robbery drama in Barnhill Road at about 4.30pm.
Three men were seen to flee the area after their confrontation with a man who had given them a lift.
Weapons, reckoned to be a knuckle-duster and knife, were said to have been dropped at the scene.
One shocked observer of the incident revealed how a shot was fired into the bonnet of the man’s car before the gang dispersed.
Armed police rushed to the scene which was quickly sealed off. An immediate search of the area failed to find those involved.
A police spokesman revealed: ‘The victim gave the men a lift in his car from Torquay to Kingskerswell.
‘Once in Kingskwerswell, the passengers threatened the victim with a weapon demanding he hand over his phone, which he did. The offenders then made off.’
The spokesman added: ‘Officers attended the scene and a wide search ensued. The suspects were not located.’
One of the offenders sought was wearing a navy blue tracksuit with a small Nike insignia on the chest.
The second suspect was white, in his late 30s, about 6ft 2ins tall with a short, dark grade 2 haircut and stubble. He was thickly built.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police quoting CR/027230/18.
It’s thought the episode may be linked to a similar incident at a Paignton holiday park earlier in the same afternoon.
