POLICE are repeating their appeals to owners of vehicles to take care with security following a further spate of break-ins in Newton Abbot.

One van was hit in Twickenham Road on Friday although on that occasion nothing was taken.

It has been suggested a skeleton key may have been used as there was no damaged caused to the locks.

A further three incidents of cars being targeted were reported on Monday night.

Insp Adrian Woon said the issue was ongoing.

He said: ‘We are constantly being hit by vehicle crime with different scenarios, either vehicles have been left unlocked, vans targeted in case tools have been left inside overnight, or windows are being smashed with rocks.

‘It is always on the agenda but owners can take steps to prevent it by not leaving valuables on show, workmen not leaving tools in vans and making sure vehicles are locked.’
