FIREFIGHTERS from Newton Abbot were called to cover for colleagues in Exeter tackling a gorse blaze in Woodbury Salterton which burnt a patch of gorse measuring 100 metres by 70 in the early hours of today.

Crews from Exeter, Honiton and Sidmouth spent an hour dealing with the May Day incident which started just before 12.30am.
