A CAR caught alight after the driver forgot to replace the oil cap during a visit to a service station at Haldon Hill on the A38.
Firefighters from Exeter were called to the Esso Winning Post filling station on Sunday morning to deal with the incident.
They arrived at the hilltop venue, opposite the Devon and Exeter Racecourse, to find the small blaze had been extinguished.
A fire spokesman said the incident was accidental, and confirmed that the oil cap had not been screwed back on.
The alarm was raised at10am.
