MUM-OF-FOUR Natalie Lumsdon was overcome by smoke after a kitchen fire in Newton Abbot this morning.
Two fire crews attended her terraced home in Carlisle Street just after 9am to extinguish the incident.
Ms Lumsdon was treated for the effects of smoke inhalation by fire crews before paramedics arrived to check her over.
Firefighters said the incident was caused by oven gloves on a baking tray which had been left on a hob.
A spokesman said the oven hob had somehow been switched on, causing the gloves to send smoke throughout the property.
Ms Lumsdon said she planned to have a chat about fire safety with one of her two sons.
The fire is being treated as accidental.
