A WOMAN was injured after falling and injuring herself behind Sainsbury’s supermarket in Newton Abbot in the middle of the night.

The casualty, who had been drinking, suffered a head injury in the incident in Western Road just after 2am last Friday.

Paramedics went to the scene where they treated the woman before taking her to Torbay Hospital’s accident and emergency department.

Police were also called to the location amid suspicions the woman may have been assaulted.

A spokesman said officers were not taking any further action.
