A pensioner from Kingsteignton has denied abusing a young girl during the 1980s and raping a woman in the 1970s.

Ian Joyner, aged 69, of Woodlands Copse, Higher Sandygate, near Newton Abbot, pleaded not guilty to 11 charges when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court.

He is accused of two counts of rape and one of causing actual bodily to an adult. He is also accused of two attempted rapes and six indecent assaults against a girl when she was aged five to 10.

Judge Geoffrey Mercer, QC, set a trial date of January 21, 2018 and released Joyner on bail.
