TWO elderly women were rushed to hospital after suffering falls at similar spots in Newton Abbot town centre within 48 hours.
Paramedics’ latest 999 shout in Courtenay Street - at the St Leonards Tower end - was just before 2pm yesterday when an 83-year-old woman banged her head in a tumble.
She was treated at the scene before being taken by ambulance to nearby Newton Abbot Hospital for a check-up.
On Saturday afternoon, at about the same time, an 87-year-old woman escaped injury in a fall at the same location.
She was examined by paramedics and taken to Torbay Hospital for a precautionary check-up.
