A MAN was attacked in Newton Abbot in the early hours of yesterday near Highweek Primary School.

The 24-year-old casualty was taken by ambulance to Torbay Hospital for treatment to a slight head injury.

Police confirmed the man had claimed he was assaulted, although he could not give any description of the offenders.

The alleged attack is thought to have happened at about 3.30am.

Paramedics were called to treat the victim at Brownhills Road at 3.43am with police alerted a few minutes later.
