AN APPEAL has gone out for witnesses after a serious road traffic collision in Newton Abbot on Monday (October 5).

Police were called at 4.10am following reports of a collision between a motorcyclist and a barrier at the bottom end of Aller Brake Road.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: ‘It appears the motorcyclist collided with the barrier after failing to negotiate a sharp left hand bend.

‘The male rider was taken to Derriford Hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.’

The road was closed for almost eight hours while investigation work into the circumstances of the collision were conducted.

Police would like to thank the public for their patience while officers carried out their work.
