YOUNG people in Teignbridge are being warned to think twice before taking recreational drugs following the death of a teenager in a suspected drug-related incident. A 15-year-old boy died in north Devon after taking a drug at a youth disco in Ilfracombe. He had been admitted to North Devon District Hospital on Friday evening and died in the early hours of Saturday morning. Two young adults were also admitted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth after taking a recreational drug at a house party. Both were kept in hospital, one in a serious condition. A police spokesman said: ‘It is currently believed that all three had taken what they thought to have been MDMA tablets. ‘At this time, police can’t be sure if these incidents are linked, or if there is particular tainted batch of recreational drugs in circulation. ‘In the meantime we would urge the public, especially those going out and planning to take recreational drugs, to be aware of these incidents and think twice before taking any unknown substance. ‘There is always a risk when taking drugs and the only way of staying safe is to avoid drugs altogether.’ For advice on drugs and the possible risks posed, go to www.TalkToFrank.com.
