POLICE are hoping witnesses will come forward following the death of a man in Newton Abbot yesterday (Friday).

Ambulance crews and the Devon Air Ambulance responded to an incident just after 2pm by the racecourse.

A force spokesman said: ‘Police were informed by the ambulance service of a member of the public in cardiac arrest on a double decker bus on the A383 Newton Road, Newton Abbot.

A male passenger was flown to Derriford Hospital but sadly died a short time later.’

Specialist officers from the Devon and Cornwall’s Alliance Roads Policing Team attended along with a Forensic Collision Investigator and Scene of Crime Officer.

A full investigation of the scene took place and officers are working to establish the cause of this incident.
