A MAN was punched in the head and fell to the ground as he walked along Newton Abbot’s Queen Street.

Police are hunting the offender whose evening unprovoked attack left the 35-year-old casualty with a broken ankle and facial injuries.

The man sought struck around 8pm in the town centre last Friday, November 11.

A police spokesman said: ‘The victim was punched once in the head, causing him to fall to the ground and break his ankle.’

The injured man was taken by ambulance to Torbay Hospital for treatment.

Officers want to hear from anyone who may have seen the incident - or who may know the identity of the attacker.

He was about 6ft tall and slightly built with medium-length blond hair. He was wearing a check shirt.

It’s thought he may have been in the company of a woman who was an estimated 5ft 5ins tall, of medium build and with brown bobbed hair.
