FIREFIGHTERS rushed to a Newton Abbot flat on Wednesday (AUG 2) evening after a fire broke out in the kitchen.

A crew from the town responded to the 999 shout in Queen Street just before 7.15pm to a blaze which involved a tea towel and electric cooker.

The fire, believed to have started accidentally, was out by the time the emergency services arrived.
