A DOZING drunk may have been responsible for sparking a ‘body on the track’ search at Kingskerswell over the weekend.

Officers on the ground were joined by a police helicopter crew after a train driver reported seeing what was thought to be a person lying on the mainline track between Newton Abbot and Torquay.

The Saturday morning search failed to find any trace of a man sleeping on the sleepers.

It’s thought the fellow in danger woke in time and wandered off in search of greater and less hazardous comfort.
