ASHBURTON’S Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team were called out at the end of the bank holiday weekend to assist an injured walker.

At approximately 3pm on Monday (May 31) the team were contacted by Devon and Cornwall Police to assist with evacuating an experienced female walker who had a suspected broken ankle near Huntington Warren, just to the north off the Avon Dam.

A full team callout was initiated at 3.14pm but one of the team members who was nearby on the moor when he received the callout and he made his way way to the location and assisted in loading the casualty into the air ambulance that has also tasked to the scene.

The team were stood down at 3.44pm.
