Search teams scour Dartmoor in major training exercise

A MULTI-AGENCY search and rescue exercise took place on Dartmoor earlier today (Saturday, March 20).

Police, alongside emergency services and volunteer agencies were participating in a missing person search on Haytor Common, the conclusion of a week-long training course for police officers.

The exercise, which ran throughout the day, was designed to encourage collaborative working between key search and rescue services who may be called to assist with a search for a missing person.

Emergency services and volunteer agencies taking part will include HM Coastguard, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service’s Urban Search and Rescue Team, several Dartmoor Search and Rescue Teams including Ashburton’s section, Cornwall Search and Rescue and Devon and Cornwall 4x4 Response.
