A DOUBLE garage and a garden shed have been completely destroyed by an overnight fire in Starcross.
One fire crew from Dawlish was initially dispatched to The Strand at Starcross just before midnight last night (Saturday) following reports of a shed on fire.
However, due to the amount of calls received by Fire Control from the public, additional fire appliances was mobilised from Teignmouth and Middlemoor stations.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue spokesman said: ‘On arrival, crews confirmed the incident involved a garden shed fire that had spread into the eaves of a neighbouring bungalow and firefighters on scene made the request to make pumps seven.
‘Additional appliances were then sent from Torquay, Danes Castle and Topsham along with the Incident Command Unit from Honiton.’
Crews tackled the blaze using six breathing apparatus, two main jets and two hose reel jets plus two thermal imaging cameras.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
