A RARE Star Wars Lego set has been stolen from the home of a collector in Newton Abbot.
The devious thief even replaced the 7,500 pieces from the plundered box with similarly weighted items so the deed remained concealed for some time, police have revealed.
Officers say the luxury set, much less valuable without the original container, was snatched from an address in Keyberry Park some time between September 20 and late yesterday afternoon.
The theft of the Millennium Falcon Star Wars set, which can sell for as much as £2,500 with pristine packaging, has devastated the owner.
PC Phil Johnson said: ‘The victim is extremely upset about this incident. It is a very rare Star Wars Lego product that contains 7,500 pieces.’
He added: ‘It is likely he will never get the opportunity to purchase one again. It is not about the monetary value of the loss, but the fact that this was a collector’s edition.’
